The pre-analytical phase (collection, labeling, transport) is the most critical and error-prone stage in lab diagnostics, responsible for up to 68% of all laboratory errors. These errors cause patient anxiety, delayed diagnoses, and costly sample rejections for the lab.
Problem
-Healthcare’s home sample collection process remains fragmented.
-Elderly users find it confusing, collectors face scheduling conflicts, and admins lack visibility.
-This leads to human errors, inefficiencies, and missed appointments.
How might we simplify and humanize the blood sample collection experience for patients, while improving operational efficiency for medical staff and administrators?
Design Process

Discover
Conducted user interviews and mapped workflows to identify process inefficiencies.
Define
Created user journey maps for each role to visualize emotional touchpoints and friction areas.
Develop
Brainstormed solution directions inspired by gig economy apps like Swiggy and Zomato for operational flow efficiency.
Deliver
Built high-fidelity prototypes, refined UI through usability feedback.

Facts:
The highlighted points are the issues we will be focusing on in this project.
Human Error: Mistakes during collection, labeling, and handling of blood samples
Data Integrity: Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data related to blood samples, including patient information and test results, is crucial.
Interoperability: Integration of data across different systems and platforms can be problematic, leading to fragmented information.
Needle Stick Injuries: Healthcare workers are at risk of needle stick injuries, which can transmit infectious diseases.
Create an intuitive booking flow for patients.
To draw a Frame, click on Layout in the Toolbar, then select Frame. Now, you can click and drag anywhere on the Canvas.
Build a mobile tool for collectors to manage daily pickups.
To add an image, select any Frame, and either double-click on it, or go to the Fill property. In the Fill property, switch to the image icon. Here, you can upload images.
Goal
Create a connected ecosystem that too is a unified, patient-centric blood sample collection ecosystem that connects patients, phlebotomists, managers, and administrators through an accessible, transparent, and emotionally engaging platform.
Information Architecture
The ecosystem was divided into three user layers:
Patient Interface: Booking, report tracking, and notifications.
Collector Interface: Task scheduling, route map, and report upload.
Admin/Manager Interface: Dashboard view, analytics, and performance reports.
Each layer interconnects via shared data pipelines ensuring transparency and reducing redundancy.

User Journey Mapping
Management
(Blind Spot)
The solution moved beyond a simple booking app to an AI-driven logistics ecosystem, inspired by modern food delivery models but adapted for medical-grade compliance.

USP
Key:
Key areas where I wanted to make an impact is the most common error in blood sampling ecosystem which are as follows.
I took inspiration from how products are tagged in a Grocery store.
I observed how products are tagged using QR codes and is simple scanned at the billing counter which increases the speed and precision of the system.

Data Integrity: Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data related to blood samples, including patient information and test results, is crucial.

Human Error: Mistakes during collection, labeling, and handling of blood samples
Key Features
🔔 Smart Notifications: Appointment reminders and report delivery alerts.
🧾 QR-Based Labeling: Reduces human error during sample tagging.
📊 Dashboard Analytics: Provides real-time insights on performance.

Design System & Visual Language
Pink
Primary Colour
To build a visual language that feels reassuring rather than clinical or alarming, I intentionally moved away from traditional healthcare reds. Red is strongly associated with urgency, errors, and alerts signals that can elevate patient anxiety. Instead, I used softened red-inspired tones that retain thematic relevance without triggering negative emotional responses.
The name “TestSetGo” was crafted as a play on the familiar phrase “Get, Set, Go,” signaling efficiency, readiness, and a smooth end-to-end journey.
